Elections and How I Believe They Should Be Decided

O.K. so here's an idea I've had for a long time and more over I truly believe this would be the best way to find the best "man" for the job.

First off, think about how long a president is in office, four years right? And what else, for the most part, takes four years to complete?

College....with exceptions of course, hence the previous remark, for the most part.

Now, when a president is elected the hopefuls (the candidates) running for president are simply getting ready by collecting money, making ads, and speaking to those that will listen, or to those (rich folk) that can further there career........with money.
All it takes for someone to have the best chance at president is money, that's the sad truth, which is why I was pissed that they lifted the cap on how much one person could give to a candidate. As soon as that happened, like clock work, the attention went from most to some, some with money, lots and lots of money. The candidates where booking speaking events for an audience of one with the hope of getting the richest of the rich on there side.

With that said, here's what I truly believe should be the process for someone to become president.

   1. Start up a "Presidential University" with the classes and test being grouped into many different subjects all to do with running a nation, with being the president

  • these "classes" should range from heath care, to diplomacy, to economics, to public speaking, to......well you get the idea.
   2.  Have the candidates attend this "University" for.......you guessed it, four years.

   3.  The candidates will be graded on %, from 0% to 100%.

   4.  At the end of the four years all of the candidates grades will be posted on some sort of designated web site where the public can view them them easily.

   5.  Have the page set up like a spreadsheet with the categories or classes on the top and the names of the candidates on the left side. Then have the grades for each class going across the page from left to right, obviously.

   6.  Then have a section on this website showing what or country needs the most also in categories, also from 0% to 100%.

This way we can see what each candidate is capable of doing and how well they will run our county by matching there "grades" with what our country needs from them as president. An Example, say our country had high unemployment, large debt, bad health care aaaaaannnnnnd, I don't know, gun control or something. then we could simply find the candidates that excelled or did the best in those areas, and base our votes off of that information as well as looking at things like there ability to lead this country intelligently with the knowledge now known by looking at how they did overall.

After they are done being assessed the election would go on pretty much as usual, we find the best candidates for the job of president, vote, have them then debate, then we make our final decision for the next leader of the free world.

The reasoning behind this is simply, to give voters the knowledge and the best chance of being able to find someone truly capable of not only running this country but also to help it's citizens by bettering there future.

Please leave a comment with your thoughts. I would love to hear your opinions and ideas!

And We Wonder Why

So here's whats been bugging the shit outta me lately, all of the dumb ass shows on TV. We are unfortunately stuck in the age of reality TV, sorry, I mean "shitty" reality TV Ever since shows like MTV's The Real World and Road Rules along with other longer running reality TV shows such as Cops and even less reality than staged shows like Jerry Springer America has been on this kick to watch other Americans who are either idiots or act like idiots. Let me clean this up before I get into too much more. I don't necessarily hate all reality TV show, just the ones that act as if they are something their not. Take the god awful show Toddlers & Tiaras for instance, it's a bunch of horrible mothers taking advantage or their poor daughters to make a name more for themselves then for their daughters. What they see in the show is completely different than what most of america sees in the show, they see it as show about how much it takes to become the best in a pageant; we ,on the other hand, see it as a show of what not to do as a parent.
Now I know there's a lot of people who like Jersey Shore and I'm sorry but I have to rag on it too. This show is the reason other countries think we're all idiots. It was a sad day for me when I found out my brother actually liked this show. Now I'm open to most thinks and if I'm not I will do my best to change the way I think by giving it another try. And that's just what I did when I found out one of my family members had fallen prey to Jersey Shore. I sat and watched the show with him while keeping as open a mind as I could, but to no avail, after watching two shows I was out, could-not-do, I really can't stand it. Here's what we need to make more shows about, the real America, the hard working, struggling, tough America. We make a show and call it The Real Housewives.... but does ANYBODY know housewives like that, no. Why don't make a show about REAL housewives, working two jobs, doing the laundry, cooking, cleaning, and taking care of their kids all while keeping a smile on their exhausted faces as if they can do it in their sleep. We never really realized how hard our mothers worked until we got older, and for some not even then. This is what we need to put on T.V. more shows that inspire, that show all the world who we really are and that we're not all fat idiot slobs who are completely self absorbed. I can only imagine what they think when they see our shows, they either love them or hate us. Most make shows about those that they look up to or a story that in some way inspires you, to either do greater things or to put everything in perspective. Are these really the people we want other countries thinking we look up to, you know what forget other countries, are these the shows we want our kids thinking is the standard for a good life. For gods sake we are actually making these people rich, WITH OUR MONEY! But if these shows really do inspire you, if you really do look up to these people then this whole blog is going to go in one ear and very quickly out the other as you probably didn't get past the first few sentences since I'm sure you had a appointment to dumb yourself down with your TV. Enjoy

Alienware M17x R3

So I ordered my new Alienware M17x R3 laptop on the 9th of this month(for those of you who are trying to figure out what month this was written, it's February) and I can only imagine that this is what a crack head feels like during there stolen bike ride to there dealers house to see if he'll take a seat cushion they found for some crack. Man has it been tough, like I said I ordered it on the 9th and was told that it will ship out on the 2nd of March. That's a long ass time to wait for something I have wanted for years and years and oh yea, years! I broke the bank getting it but it was something I not only have wanted but at the moment desperately need. My old laptop is crap, the keyboard went out the screen is messed up and it is SSSLOOOOWWWWWWW , AS SHIT! Well lets just say that when I get the new laptop the old one is going to find a new home upside a tree. I know Alienware is really expensive but I had a ton of discounts to where I only had to pay $1,000 for a $3,800 computer. I will put the specs of the M17 I had built below.

Interfacing

At first glance Second life can be pretty overwhelming, there are a million different options to choose from. This is a place where you can quiet literally play god. Now I know you believe that with most sandbox games this is the case but in all actuality you can not do whatever you want to do. In second life you can build anything you want and with the proper knowledge of how to script you can make your objects do whatever you want them to do. For example, I made a broom the other day and if I wanted to, we'll not if I wanted to but if I knew how to, I could make the broom a vehicle that you could ride or fly. The options are limitless, from making a soda machine to a gun. Or in my case I built a super Broom that I was attempting to script to be able to ride it.

As I started working on making my own objects and trying to script it was very tricky at first. Trying to figure out how to work with the X, Y, and Z axis' or better yet trying to figure out how to get the object to work on these axis was very tricky at first but I quickly learned. That's not all, there was the texture size color and shape of the object. Then you have to fit other shapes together to make whatever it is you want to make i.e. a gun or chair or.... well whatever. This is all a small part of it, there is also the scripting then you can name your object and even sell it. So like I said on the surface Second Life can look pretty but underneath it can be overwhelming. As long as you have the patience and proper knowledge second life can also be very fun, being able to become whomever you want and better yet do whatever you want.

My New Secondlife

After a four mile walk from La Grange Pk. to the train station and then a twenty minute train ride to Union Station, then another three mile walk to class I arrived at 916 S. Wabash, the Interactive Arts and Media "department". I wasn't sure what to expect here at Columbia College. I was a little worried it would be like my previous college Lewis University, where the teachers were twenty years or more out of touch with the profession they taught. Walking into class I immediately felt at home, being greeted by the other students and talking about what games we played with the teacher.

One of the first things we did in class was jump onto secondlife.com and make our avatar. We then got our self familiar with the controls and layout of the secondlife world. I couldn't believe what I was doing, in class and playing video games, wow! But that wasn't all, I was learning how the world of games worked, something I have wanted to learn for as long as I could remember.

I'm 28 years old, I've been playing video games since I could remember but never considered pursuing a career around them. Not that I didn't want a career in game development but I just never thought of it as a career, if that makes sense. It took me a while to finally get into college as I have been on my own financially since high school. I've always loved flying as my grandfather was a mechanic for United and never stopped talking about flight. It only made sense that I go to Lewis University since that was where my grandfather graduated from back in 1947. Unfortunately flight as a career wasn't for me, I did get my private pilots license while I was there but I soon realized that was as far as I wanted to go. I was left to think about what I wanted to do for a living again. No matter how many ideas I came up with I never felt confident about any of them. Until I was playing Battlefield 3 with my brother and brought up how I was having trouble figuring out what I really wanted to do. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks, duh, games! I've been playing games since 1984, I have played almost every system made since then and even before then. Every time I'm upset or stressed I jump on my 360 or PS3 or computer and all my troubles seem to fade away.

Needless to say being in a class that revolves around gaming and game design just feels right. As I had said before, I was a little nervous with anticipation wondering what was in store for me. But for the first time  since I could remember I finally feel like I belong. When I leave class for the day and head home I don't feel like I just got out of class, instead I feel a little down like I left a friends house after playing online for hours. Even though It's a long walk home and a long walk back to school I'm more than happy to do it because I love what I'm doing, and that's what you need to make it a career.
